I had my master cylider replaced because it was leaking,.I didn't think every thing was properly bled because 2 days later I went to drive the car and the brake pedal was going down to floor and barely stopping. So I took it to a professional to have my lines bled and they said the master cylinder was bad. They put a new one on and I'm still having this problem. I didn't have this problem until I had the leaky master cylinder replaced. What should I do?

I had to replace the rear brake pads on my car recently. I didn't have the correct (special) tools to do it so I had to disassemble the calibers to change the pads. This resulted in a loss of fluid and air getting into the system. Replacing the master cylinder will cause this too. After replacing the master cylinder they are supposed to bleed the brakes to remove any air from the system. Gas (air), unlike liquid, compresses when pressure is applied, via the brake pedal / master cylinder. So, air is compressing instead of the brakes being applied. You're still stopping because the air has compressed enough to apply the brakes before the pedal has reached the floor, that is there is still enough fluid in the system. Take it back to the shop and have them bleed the brakes, OR if you don't want to deal with them, you can bleed them yourself. Its a 2 person DIY job. You'll need one person to apply the brakes and one to do the dirty work. On each wheel, on the caliper, there is a small notch/bolt that opens the system. Sometimes you can get in behind the wheel and work on it but you may have to remove the wheel. Once you find the bolt, apply the brakes, turn the small bolt counter-clockwise (just a little), fluid and air (bubbles) should come out, and with the brakes still applied (pedal down), turn the bolt clockwise and tighten, release brakes, repeat.

Again thats:
apply the brakes and hold
turn bolt counter-clockwise, 1/4 turn
check for air bubbles
turn the bolt clockwise and tighten
release brakes
repeat until there is no more air.
then do the next wheel

Remember to check the reservoir constantly, and add brake fluid as needed. Also open the reservoir too before you began to bleed the brakes and top it off after you are done. The brakes should feel really strong after that. Hope that helps.

did it leak into the brake booster? it may have damaged the booster. also what brand of parts where used? it just maybe you where unfortunate to keep getting bad parts. also did they flush the brake system? maybe you have conamination in the brake fluid that keeps taking out the seals in the master cylinder. if thats the case the everything that has rubber in it in the brake system needs to be changed. also is there any other leaks? maybe you have another leak thats causing you to loose fluid over a couple of days (leaky wheel cylinder, caliper, line).

Read again what pokey said, He is telling you the same thing that I would say to you. Get this problem corrected immediately, dont drive the car on a regular basis until you do! !, your brakes are nothing to play with.

before everything, you will no longer be able to tell if the grasp is leaking without taking it off the ability booster. The pedal adjustment is likewise significant, in that if no freeplay, the grasp will possibly no longer enable commencing off to reservoir, and improve vacuum. in any different case, while you're effective no air in strains, then grasp is the only element left to attempt.

You don't mention the year make and model of your car. There are some that are real tricky to bleed. Go back to the garage and demand it be fixed and fixed properly. It is your life you are playing with.
