I have a 2001 Saturn SL1. My problem is that the 'Saturn Security System' is causing the alarm to go off for no apparent reason. Last night, it went off while it was parked pretty much every time that a car passed our house. Is there any way to turn of the 'Saturn Security System' alarm without having to go back to the dealership and paying the cost of them doing it?

Sometimes the alarm will sound if a door or trunk appears closed but is only latched part way. If for some reason the vehicle is moved even a little, (by the wind, passing cars, etc.) the alarm will sound. The easiest thing to check first is to make sure all of the doors, windows and trunk are closed and secured.

Read in the owners manual for factory installed units there is a sensitivity setting adjustment. For aftermarket alarm or dealership installed alarm you can only hope to find the alarm box and adjust the alarm to not go off so much..
