I've got a 1998 S reg mark 4 VW Golf 1.4 petrol. I've been told I need to remove my fuel injectors and give them a clean. The problem is I have no idea what they look like or where they are under the bonnet. How do I get to them? What do they look like? Are they simple to remove? How should I clean them?
Please help!

I ran over a small log that I didnt notice til I was too close to swerve or stop (it was dark out). Right after it happened my car started making this really loud thumping noise..I thought it was just a branch or something off of the log stuck under my car but even after i stopped and put my car in park it was still making this loud noise..what could it be?. ...and how much will it cost to get fixed?

Having moved house recently i am parking my 106 on the road in front of my house. I have noticed when left overnight, 5 times out of 10 i will return to the car to find it now unlocked. I have double and triple checked its locked before i leave the car. I have tried parking in a road behind my house but the same thing has happened.
My remote locking keyfob has been out of batteries for some years now so i know its not that. When i leave the car at my girlfriends or work it has never happened overnight or otherwise. Logically it would seem that something else is triggering the remote central locking. I dont think it can be another driver, having parked in different roads around my house. Does anyone know of a similar problem or what might be causing it

Ok. I know this is really really stupid. But on new years, I had a beginner driver be the sober cab for my car It was raining outside, dark out, possibly slippery. We were going like 70-75 on the highway and she bumps the shifter into neutral looking for her phone, then she spilled her chips all over the place, got all nervous, then somehow shifts into reverse. The car made all the clicking/crunching noises, stalles and stops on the highway. Somehow after the yelling we got it started back up and made it onto the shoulder, but thats it, it won't go anymore, it just makes horrible noise and won't move unless it's in park. Some say it might not be the entire tranny? CV joints, drive shafts? or something? that might be great!? or a lot less money.

I know this was dumb

what I need to do. I have had it serviced so all filters and sparks have been changed. I have had the AA out who said it was my distributor and rotar arm which have now also been changed, however the thing is still doing it. I initially thought it was a fuel injection problem, but I don't know how to deal. It drives well and then starts to kangaroo a bit. When I stop at traffic lights it loses all revs and cuts out. It starts again straight away.

I'm buying a car from a friend since my old Ford Ranger pickup just died on me. It's an 84 Thunderbird. Looks nice, runs great - although, after it heats up - about 15-20 minutes of driving - whenever I come to a stop, if I'm not at least slightly pressing on the gas, the engine dies. It starts right back up, but it's very annoying.

He manually set it to idle a lot higher, and that prevented it from stopping as much, but obviously kills my fuel effeciency. What exactly could cause something like this?

If it helps, the engine light flickers and you can feel the engine sort of shuddering before it dies.

I am trying to find a shop to replace a wheel bearing in my other car, a 1995 monte carlo, before I sell it. It has front wheel drive, 3.1 Litre engine, ABS, and the wheel bearing that needs to be replaced is the front passenger side wheel bearing. I have called shops, and they have quoted DRASTICALLY different prices (from $190 to $485). I need to just replace the bearing and sell it ASAP, and as you can see, the car is old and not worth much anyhow, so I don't want to invest much more into it.

Any mechanics out there that can answer this?

Thanks sooo much!

I'm pretty sure that i need to put in a new suspension to compensate for the added weight up front and probably also a new transmission to handle the added power. is that true? and also..what other work will need to be done?

Car is a 99 Ford Escort. While driving the car up a hill it stalled like it was out of gas, which wasn't the case (car has about half a tank). When I tried to re-start the car, it whined; sounded like a stripped starter. Battery and alternator seem fine. The radio, headlights and dashboard are working fine. Because it stalled while driving, it seems like it might be a drive belt?? I'm at a loss and need to get back on the road soon as I'm about 900 miles from home... Thanks!

I have to travel about 150 miles to school only during the holidays, so it's mostly just to get around. The car seems to be in very good condition, 1 owner, and 108,000 miles. I have to buy a cash car. It's selling for $5,000 so far. Is it too old? Can I rely on it for travel ?

What should I check ? I have checked the battery and replaced the spark plugs and wire before this problem started and the car was running fine. It was like the car just died while I was talking to a friend.
