Maintenance & Repairs - January 2007

Recently put on new altenator, Water pump, Belt, Changed Oil&/Filter, Trans Fluid&/Filter... Antifreeze is full, Oil Pressure seems fine.. Trans Fluid maybe a lil low? Also there is a humming sound after idleing for a while.. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!

I have 2000 Kia Sephia, it has 60000 thousands mile on it. When i was driving back to the home on the highway it had suddenly lost the power and engine lights came on. When i stopped the car it was shaking like a cradle. Later on i took it to the mecanic they did the tune up but nothing changed. They told me the 3th slinder is not working seems like it is a missfire and they said we need to do the had gasket job which about at least 9 hundered dollars.
What do you guys think about it, can i trust the mecanic or should i change the ignition coil, it might be the reason for the missfire.

cog belt for a replacment at the parts store will this belt work it looks differnt the other belt has groves this new belt has (poly cogs) ?

Engine works well, new thermostat (works well), blower motor works well, heater matrix has been flushed through, water seems to flow through matrix okay. When turning temp control from cold to hot I get a minimal temperature rise, but does not become hot. Have come to a blank now!

My Disco has developed an electrical fault with I having trouble tracking down. The indicator light (the cabin one not the ones outside) for a while work intermittently and now doesn't work at all. It does this with both the hazards and indicators, and no it isn' the bulb because I check those. Any ideas?

So my engine light came on about a month ago, and my mechanic told me the code was for a "very small emissions leak." He couldn't find it anywhere and just reset the code.

A week later the light came back on. He took another look and still couldn't find it. So he replaced the gas cap and said, you know, let's see what happens.

A month went by. Then the light came back. My mechanic just told me over the phone that I should ignore it and keep driving, because the light doesn't indicate anything serious. But boy, it's annoying as hell to see that light. It makes me nervous. Does anyone have any suggestions here? I'd greatly appreciate any help in diagnosing this ridiculous problem. Cheers!

The wheel well in the trunk of my car gets completely soaked after a heavy rain and also the rear floors are slightly. I'm assuming I have a leak, I just need to know where it might be at. Also what I might be able to do to fix it.

I have had problems in the past with my heating in a 2000 Plymouth Breeze. About a year ago, I noticed that I wasn't getting any airconditioning to the car, only heat. I brought it in and they said that the problem was a $5 lever, but no one will sell the lever, only the entire part which is around $500. Unfortunately I don;t have the money for that so I am going back every change in season so they can switch the lever between air conditioning and heat as it can only be switched to one at a time.

Now I am having a problem with my heat only coming out on the highest setting out of 4 settings. I am afraid this might be a problem that is corresponding with the first and that eventually it might stop blowing heat all together, which would be awful in winter seeing as I live in Wisconsin! Anybody have any ideas as to why and how to fix this problem? Thanks!

How often is it necessary to have your tires balanced? I have a Toyota Corolla with about 11,000 miles on it. I have had the oil changed twice and tires rotated each time, but I wasn't sure when to have them balanced. It seems to me that they should do this automatically when they rotate your tires but I know they don't. My last car had lots of problems from being out of balance, so I want to make sure this doesn't happen agian. Thanks! : )

A few weeks ago my heater stopped working, i put water into the coolant system but later on that day the car began making a funny noise then could smell burning then the car just slowed to a stop and would not start again. When i then poured water/anti freeze into the coolant level it just leaked out of the radiator, was the cause not having any water in the coolant level for a while and how can i get my car going again??

Currently registered from Arizona, i will need a intermediate pipe and muffler, will i have trouble registering it here in So cali??? i'd like performance exhaust any ideas? Wasn't happy with the last responses so i thought i would post again. Is my Mech right in saying that fixing the oil leaks in my 94 mitsubishi would only cause leaks elsewhere due to preasure caused by a worn engine? eg ..it would (oil) find somewhere else to come out??

It's a VW Golf and although I can lower the revs by raising the clutch pedal slightly, it's really annoying. It's also intermittent. It's usually worse when I start out on my journey but sometimes it disappears only to come back again. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks!
