My Disco has developed an electrical fault with I having trouble tracking down. The indicator light (the cabin one not the ones outside) for a while work intermittently and now doesn't work at all. It does this with both the hazards and indicators, and no it isn' the bulb because I check those. Any ideas?

Hugh - Thanks but i've tried that. Although I guess it could be the stalk itself.

Try replacing the Flasher Unit situated behind the fuse box under the steering wheel.

This worked for me.

If the lamp is a capless 1.2W that fits into a holder which twists into the PCB on the back of the dash then try this:

Remove the holder and clean the two small brass contacts that bear on the PCB, you may want to try bending the contacts SLIGHTLY to get a better contact.

Work the holder back and forth in the dash (install it then remove)
a good few times to clean the PCB track.

The brass contacts in the holder that connect to the bulb can be cleaned by inserting and removing the bulb a few times.

The wires on the end of the bulb can sometimes bend and refuse to make contact when pushed into the holder.

Have you tried swapping it with another complete lam/holder from another warning light?

Remember sometimes filaments can become loose so trying a new bulb may help.

My guess would be the flasher relay. Think its under the steering column on the disco. Remove and replace.

its a good bet that the control switch is faulty, it would be worth removing the switch and blowing clean with an air gun, some times dust and dirt can get into the switch and cause problems, (is it a dirty working vehicle).
