i own a repair shop,and you can get a good used engine for it,,for around 600 bucks,,it probably had a 305 in it,,or a 350 either engine will work fine in it,,and nothing has to be changed ,,because they all have the same block,,that's the good part about Chevy,a small block is a small block,,and they all inter change,,good luck hope this helps.

Elcamino engine, could be a 6 cylinder or an 8. My guess installed 4-6 thousand.
