For years I had a really good shop that I went to and the owner retired and sold his business to a schmuck. I've been there so long I don't even know how to look for someone I trust. What should I look for? Where do I start? I know next to nothing about cars so I'm looking for someone I can trust.

The best method of finding a good supplier for ANYTHING in your area is to ask friends or coworkers or neighbors. Actual dealings firsthand offer much more insight than any reseach on the web!

If you can get in touch with the man who previously owned the shop- even just look him up in the phone book I'm sure he would have referrences for you. If you dont want to do that- start asking people where they go, I would ask men at Advanced Auto or at the convenience store or where ever I saw a man and could ask him. Seriously, don' t call places and all that because everyone's gonna say they're better, but truely word of mouth will lead you to the most honest and trustworthy mechanics.. Good Luck and be smart about it because it could cost you $100.s of unneeded service if your not.

Referrals, referrals, referrals! If you don't know anyone in the area ask the shop for some customers who would be willing to vouch for their service.
