I would not worry so much as getting it out. As I would about neutralizing it. Use a spray bottle with clean water and baking soda. The baking Sada will neutralize the acid. Make sure u lift up the carpet and clean the bottom and the insulation pad thoroughly. Acid is no joke. use plastic gloves and throw away rags when done. If paint is removed from under carpet. Make sure to either paint or primer floor board.
U can also go to your local auto parts store and buy a can of bat. acid remover and nutralizer.

What she said. However by the time you get this advice the carpet is probably toast. By the way remember the pad under the carpet probably has acid in it as well and that acid will have to be neutralized. With baking soda. Keep at it until the bubbles stop.

Get new carpet. No mater how well you clean it out, the fabric will dissolve.

put baking soda on it, then wet soda with water and use towel to blot up mess...do not rub, continue process until, baking soda doesn't bubble with water..
