What should I check ? I have checked the battery and replaced the spark plugs and wire before this problem started and the car was running fine. It was like the car just died while I was talking to a friend.

You should probably check and see if any of the spark plug wires have come loose, especially if you did them yourself. It really does sound like a battery problem, just given that it won't make a sound. Your other option would be if the starter has given out. You can either send it to a mechanic, or you can pick up a Hayes manual for your car and year at your local auto parts store.

I don't know how hard it would be to replace on a Corsica or what your facilities are to do so, however. Sorry about that.

was the car running when it died or will it just not start? if the answer is just not start and the battery is fine then i would say bang on the starter while someone is turning the key. if it starts then you need a new starter. if you turn the key and get a rapid clicking noise then you need a new battery. if you get it started and disconnect the negative terminal and the car dies you need an alternator. if it died while idling you may need an idle air control valve (iacv). or a mass air flow sensor. (maf) other possibilities are fuel pump. you can email me more info and answer some questions and i can give you a more complete diagnosis. i hope this helped.

well first off, check the battery connections, and then if they are all set then check to see if your battery is dead. its its not dead then it will probably be the starter. i would usually take that to a mechanic to fix it but if you don't feel like pay $200 then buy a $10 car manual and try to fix it yourself. Also sence it is a little bit of an older car you should replace the battery anyways.

sounds like possibly the ignition switch in the steering column if your lights and everything work...if you can try wiggling the wires that go to it its on the left side of the colum just about where it meets the dash if you wiggle the wires a little it might start for you i really need more info but the switch is common on those cars

Look at the battery cables. More than likely you are not getting spark to the starter. Make sure the connection is secure. If your "idiot lights" are coming on, but nothing is happening, then the battery is just low. Can you jump it?

My guess is corrosion.

turn on the headlights and see if they work. if they come on, but are very weak it could be a battery problem. if they don't come on at all then it is your battery. if this all checks out OK . it may be the starter. you could go on and on with thinking this and that for the problem find a legitimate mechanic who can check it out.

If nothing if happening when you turning the key...

It is either the battery or the starter motor.

This has happened to me. I went to the shop... and when I came back to my car... it was dead. It was the starter motor.
