I have a Nissan Pathfinder

First let me explain.... NOTE "I do not have ABS"

December 2005, it was raining... I was driving past a construction site and hit a cinderblock, Now I know why the speed limit is lower near construction.

Well, my brakes stopped working. I had to go home in the rain slowly using my e-brake. I would push the brake all the way down and it felt like only 1 wheel would brake.

I took it to a shop, they changed the rim, then the master cylinder (That did not need replacing), replaced my brake pads, then they put presure into the brakes. I got reamed, but I did not care. My car was working.

1 year later, today.... When I start my car, the car's brakes are VERY loose... I push the pedal to the floor and the wheels won't lock, BUT If I continue to drive my car's brakes tighten to the point where if I barely push the pedal it brakes hard. I found out... that it actually is lightly applying the brakes as I drive.

Any Idea what could be causing This/How to fix it?

My Chevy Silverado has good Carbon Monoxide readings for inspection purposes but it horribly failed the Hydrocarbon test( like 900). The vehicle is driven very hard and had a recent transmission change to a heavier transmission. Is there a way to drop the Hydrocarbon emissions and would the transmission change have anything to do with this?

I have a 98 Subaru Legacy GT. When I bought it, I had the head gasket replaced and I thought that would fix the problem but it didn't. What would make my heater blow hot air when idling and cold air when at high speeds?

Hello, I have a 2000 RS Impreza and recently Ive noticed it doesn't handle as well as it used to, despite having new tyres. My Dad rekons it needs new Struts I think. But If this is the case would it be good to replace the springs and maybe lower the car so that it handles like its on rails. Does anyone know a good specific setup for the RS? How Much should I lower the car to notice a significant difference? Does anyone know a ball park figure of how much the whole thing may cost including fitting?? Any advice tips would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

What cars have timing chains not belts besides newer Toyotas? And when do you REALLY need to change the belts? Do you ever have to change the chains? Now the trucks, I know a Ranger has a belt, but most other trucks have chains?

Thanks.

Every time I take off from a stop the car shifts hard from first to second. It doesn't do it with any other gear change. I've had the fluid and filter changed recently and it didn't help at all. If there is anything that I can do short of completely replacing the transmission please help me out. I can't afford a new car right now and fixing this one is my only option.

When I'm driving my car, it goes squeaka squeaka squeaka and gets faster with the faster I drive, and slower when I drive slower. It doesn't stop. Is this the brakes going bad, or could there be another cause? Only the front left does it. I'm gonna take it to my dad's tomorrow on the assumption that it's the brakes (he told me to go to a brake shop to see if that's the problem, but I'm too lazy), but if it turns out to be something else, he will be unhappy with me for not going to the brake shop in the first place. Could it be something else? What's the likelihood?

...out that now I have to press the brake pedal all the way to the floor for the car to stop. It also comes with a "hissing" sound when I depress the pedal. Does it mean I have to take the front tires out again and repurge the brakes? How do I do it without having to bleed out all the brake fluid? Thank you so much.

When i have to hold the gas down and it takes about 5 seconds to start as it slowly putts up. Then i have to give it gas for a minute or two otherwise it will just die. When the car is warm, i can turn it off and it will turn right back on, but if it sits for even 5 minutes, it's hard to start all over again. I've noticed a less gas mileage and lately it wants to die when i put it in neutral and come to a stop. any ideas?

Should I replace the entire joint? I believe only the front end is affected, as it makes a rattle when I turn sharply. How much will this cost?

So, i've had some problems with my alero lately.

For one, the Service Engine Soon light came on. Since there are numerous things that could be wrong with this light on, which is it most likely to be and how can i find out what it is?

Also, my right passenger power door lock won't automatically lock. Everytime i want to unlock the door, i have to reach over to unlock it by hand. What could be wrong?? And how much would it approximately be to fix it?

One more question :)
Is there any way to power up my little 2.4l engine on it to get a faster acceleration? (for a reasonable price)?

Thank you :)

The car is in descent shape for the year and runs great. It needs cosmetic help.

It will need to be repainted. And it needs a new top. The convertible top is exterior.

So is it better to replace the top and have it repainted or repainted and then the top? If I replace the top first - I maybe looking at overspray. If I replace the top later, I am going to kill myself if I accidentally scratch my new paint (it is a good 12-18 hour job for a layman from what I have read.)

I currently replace all parts on my car with AcDelco as it is the o.e.m name brand. I won't to try out bosch products like plugs, wires, fuel filter ect....
Do you think that it is better to stick with Acdelco or would bosch be a better choice.
I have a 95 olds cutlass ciera and I replaced plugs wires etc.. at about 44000 miles. I now have 84000 miles and want to maintain good running conditions thaat meet or exceed manufactures recommendations.
