Is the alternator squeaking or the belt? If the belt is squeaking then something is wrong. With a new tensioner and idler pulley and belt, everything should work just fine. The light flickering on and off means the alternator is not charging at that time. You could possibly need a new alternator. The bearing may be freezing up sporadically and causing the belt squeal.

The connectors on the battery need to be tightened or the wiring is bad or loose to the light in your console.

Go to a place an auto parts store and have them test the altinator and the battery cables. They should be able to tell you the problem. And I would suggest getting a new car. American cars don't last too long anymore.

It's not charging correctly.
Could be a connection, the alternator or the regulator.

Go to your local auto parts store and ask them to check the altenator. This is almost always a free service.

if the alternator and battery are ok, it is probably a computer or electrical problem.
