You have to replace the entire CV axle, the last price I seen on a CV half-shaft was $90 and I would suggest replacing both half shafts at the same time, cause as my luck has it when I replace one side or half of something the other half will fail about a week later. But your looking at around $200 for parts.

Personally, I'd replace both halfshaft assemblies. Once the boot goes the joint is trashed in a few miles and the rattle proves that. The vibration from the failed joint does no good to the other end so full replacement is in your best interest. About $400.00 all in for both, installed.
The labor charge for replacing the full halfshaft assembly should actually be lower than just replacing the joint as the entire halfshaft has to come out to replace the joint and you're not paying for the labor to then swap out the joint. Replacing both halfshafts will only cost a bit more than just the failed joints.

You do not have to replace the entire axle. You can replace just the outer joint and boot if you are wanting to save some money. The outer is what goes bad 90 percent of the time. You can get the whole kit to replace the outer on ebay (joint and boot )for around $40. Could probably hire a mechanic to install it for around the same price. Its not the hard of a job Ive done it quite a few times.

I would replace both axles..You can get them at Advance A/P for about 85.00 each and in most cases you can figure the labor would cost about 75-80 bucks per axle..You will have a lifetime warranty on the parts from the parts store..I would not buy the cheap ones on ebay because they are probably made of cheap metal and you would probably have a hard time with collecting from any warranty on them,if they even have a warranty on them..Since the labor is the same either way,i think i would want to get the good parts..Good Luck!!

this is a threat to positioned on a clean boot kit. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, if the two your outer boots have already torn, there's a threat which you're inner boots closer on your transmission would tear interior the close to destiny. the indoors boots are harder to change as there is little area to get your palms and in around the section. you need to purchase a clean axle for the two aspects which already comprise inner and outer boots already secured and sealed with grease. The section for the motive force's area axle will fee approximately $eighty whilst the passenger's would be approximately $sixty 5. the sole complicated portion of the labor is the axle nut. you would be wanting a good impact wrench to loosen it off the hub. I replaced them myself so labor replaced into unfastened, in any different case, autoshops can charge you everywhere from $six hundred for each axle. good success!

Don't know about cost but you need more than boots if it rattles.
