When I'm driving my car, it goes squeaka squeaka squeaka and gets faster with the faster I drive, and slower when I drive slower. It doesn't stop. Is this the brakes going bad, or could there be another cause? Only the front left does it. I'm gonna take it to my dad's tomorrow on the assumption that it's the brakes (he told me to go to a brake shop to see if that's the problem, but I'm too lazy), but if it turns out to be something else, he will be unhappy with me for not going to the brake shop in the first place. Could it be something else? What's the likelihood?

I thought maybe it would help you guys to know I'm driving a 93 Buick LeSabre. It hasn't had any serious problems lately, so I think it's overdue for a breakdown.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I AM getting the problem fixed, and that is why I'm going to my dad's, to have him change them for me. But if he takes the wheel off and it's not the brakes at all, he won't be happy at me for wasting his time.

Most likely it is the brakes but it could be some other things
1 st thing could be a bad wheel bearing
2nd thing if you have front wheel drive it could be a bad CV joint
A CV joint is like a universal joint on a drive shaft and a front wheel drive car has 2 of them one going to each front tire on the Axel drive shafts that exit the transmission to the front tires
3 rd thing it could be loose lug nuts and your wheel rim is moving against the drum or rotor
it is hard telling until you jack it up and look into it
most likely it is brake shoes gone bad and they are squeaking
but please be safe and have it looked at because if it is a serious problem you could loose you tire and cause a accident

I know that if it's super loud when you hit the brakes, it's probably the brakes. It might be that it needs an alignment. By the way listen to your dad, parent's are alway's right when they tell you to do something and you don't do it. When you do what they say, they're usually wrong. Then again they're kinda always right, or left.

First of all its prolly ur brake pads going bad, they have a piece of metal on them for caution, then if brakes are ok, check the metal on the back side of ur Rotors, to see if u might of hit something to bend that Rotor Gaurd.

those are dumb solutions. Wheels squeak commonly with the aid of fact they are made up of rubber and that motives friction between them and the line. yet while your using on a parkway or highway while your listening to this (possibly even an elementary highway) it ought to be with the aid of fact your tyre is touching the line on the edge. It makes a valid and youll experience it somewhat bumpy with the aid of fact its a warning your TOO near to the fringe of the line. desire this healped

sounds like you have bad brake pads or some dirt between the brake and the rotor.

The squeaks are chirps that are to remind you that you need new front brakes. if you get them done soon it won't cost as much, as if you wait. if you wait, much longer , you will have to have your cars drums turned, or new drums, that cost is much more than just front brakes..

If your car is front wheel drive it could be you drive-axle. The boot may have busted then dirt and stuff would get in the bearings.

the indicator on your brake pads is going off. it means you have 10% or less left and it's time to change.
