This morning I went to strat my van and the key would not turn. I discovered that my steering wheel is not lock. (My mother had trouble with her old car and just moved the steering wheel to lock it before she started her car.) I've tried turning the wheel but it will not lock. It also will not shift gears. (I tried hoping that it would help the wheels move freely so i could lock the wheel.) What can i do?

The battery in my APC backup unit is a few years old and lasts only like 3 minutes before shutting down. Rather than buying a new battery from APC, is it possible to buy a car or marine battery and hook it up to the UPS unit?

I did a quick search on the web and got the following page which makes it sound like you can swap the 12 volt battery in just about any UPS with any 12 volt car or marine battery. They make it sound really easy:

http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/emergencypowersources/ht/ht_aqups.htm

Is this possible? It would be great if it could work. Rather than have a few minutes of backup power, I could have whatever a car battery can provide (hours?)!

Are there are any hazards to watch out for? Can the UPS even charge something as big as a car battery?

I took out the old battery in my UPS just to look at it, and I see 3 terminals coming out of the battery! Three? Isn't there supposed to be just 2 terminals, a positive and a negative? Can I hook a car battery to this?

After 104,000 miles, my "Service Engine Soon" light is coming on intermittantly and I suspect it's the oxygen sensor which has never been replaced. If I can change this myself, I will. I'm having a problem finding it though. This car has a 3.1 V-6. Thanks.

The heat works and the AC does as well, but the fan will only blow when turned on high. This goes for the windshield defroster as well.

Also, the rear AC controls will only blow cold air whether the front is set to hot or cold - is that normal? was the rear only equipped with AC and not heat? or is there something wrong there as well?

After driving, when I get out of the car, I smell antifreeze (coolant)

The level is where it should be (when hot and cold) and there are no leaks under the car, on the radiator or in the engine bay.

should I be worried?

Truck was running fine. Pulled into the driveway for lunch and then it never started again. Check engine light has been coming on and off for a while, now it just stays on.

This is a new development. My cars a 91, so it's pretty old and has problems from time to time. Now when I hit the brakes they vibrate a lot, and sometimes the steering wheel shakes too. I had my front brakes replaced a couple months ago, and the car brakes fine, other than this. Do you know whats wrong? And about how much it might cost to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

... assuming you change your oil every 3k for regular or 5k for fully synthetic, and trans every 30-50k, change airfilter every 15k, and you don't gun the engine every time on the road, and you use premium gasoline which has better detergents keep the engine clean?

My vehicle has 155k and it runs great. I'm looking to hit 250k. Is beyond asking for too much?

I bought a 86 Olds Cutlass supreme last month. It'a a clean ride n engine is in good condition. It has 117,000 miles on it n drives smooth. I notice that the car leans low on the driver rear side. I notice the inside of my truck is wet. Thougth I would need suspension. So I got the work done n put shocks in. The tech told me that my frame is busted on that side. The car does not lean as much. It looks even but still about a 1inch lower then the other side (than before being 2 1/2 inches lower). It drives smooth until I get to 65 mph n it vibrates a little. I was told that it cost money to get a fram for my type of car. My question is can I keep driving my car around? How long will my new shocks hold up? Will my frame break lose all together later on?

When I drive my car, I have to push the clutch down all the way to the floor now to shift and even then it is getting hard.

Do I have to wait til the clutch goes out all the way to change it or can I do it before it goes out?

Why??? Gas stations don't react nearly as fast when oil prices drop as when they go up. Don't the oil companies see that this is a prime reason why everyone hates them? Bastards...
