to fix it. should i do that or trade it in with the transfer case ruined? the trucks in really good condition..i dont know if it would be worth it to fix and then trade it or just trade it as is. what do you think is the best answer to this problem?

If you intend to keep it for more than two more years, fix it.
If you don't want to keep it, don't fix it.

You won't recoup the cost of repairs in trade in value.

i mechanic for a living and own a shop,if you,ll call a good junk yard they,ll have what you need for this vehicle,,i checked where i live and it cost 350 bucks for a good used one,with a warranty on it,,i buy used ones all the time.and never have any problems from them at all,,im sure there's one close to where you live,,the job isn't worth 1600 bucks ,,if it were me id fix it and drive it,,if it runs good ,that's what id do,you can get this installed for about 200 bucks,,that's a long way from 1600 though,i do them all the time for 200 bucks labor,,good luck hope this help,s

you might be able to find a transfer in a junk yard somewhere and then be able to trade it with a "good" transfer in it. you will get more out of your trade if everything works.

start looking in the junkyards for a xfer case. Alot of the "you pull it" ones are really cheap...probably 75.00 or so, and it's a really easy job to complete yourself, then trade it if you like.
