I've got a 93 Mazda Protege 4 speed auto with a shifting problem. It occurs when going from 2nd to 3rd gear. When the problem happens, the 2-3 shift has a long slipping feel to it and the hold light will start flashing. I checked for trouble codes and code 62 came up, which I believe indicates a 3-4 shift solenoid problem. The thing is, this problem doesn't always happen. Sometimes the car will go for days without a problem, other times within 10 minutes the problem will pop up. The transmission fluid is up to the proper level and doesn't look or smell burnt. Will changing the fluid and filter and using some Lubegard take care of the problem, or will it require servicing? If it did need servicing, do you know what is involved in fixing the problem, and possibly how much it would cost?

going down the freeway all the sudden it started like jumping up and down. Now today, going down the road about 50 mph it starts doing it again. The only way I was able to get home was to down shift and drive 30 mph all the way back in no more than 3rd gear. This is a 92 model chevy truck and I don't know engine size or anything technical about anything. It is a 5 speed. When it starts jumping it also won't accelerate. We recently had the transmission redone on it also. If you know what this could possibly be and how much it would cost, please tell me.

Not much, just £4 worth of petrol and then he realised his stupidity and stopped. He went into the petrol station and told the bloke who said that a bit of petrol won't do any harm. I am sure that I read a couple of years ago that you can cause a lot of damage doing this, and that under no circumstances are you to start the car. Well, hubby's home, it appears no damage done, but it there??

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with 212,000 miles. When I step on the gas the motor hesitates and starts to shake. It stops when either I place more pressure on the gas or when I let off the gas. Does this sound like a transmission problem?

New in tank fuel pump (OEM)$280.00 14-16 psi, great flow.
YES I CHECKED.
New fuel filter (fram) re-checked it, it's clean.
Starts every time, and stays running.
As soon as I try to go, it backfires thru TBI.
Some days works fine warmed up to operating temperatures, or cold.
Today, it doesn't want to go. Yesterday before I parked it, it ran good.

With no load on engine, it revs up to redline without a problem
In gear, it doesn't want to do KRAP! Hot or cold.

Is there another filter or screen inside the TBI?
Computer code 12-12-12-12....No faults noted.

Oil pressure over 30psi.

So, I'm thinking TPS.
What are your thoughts?

I know on some vehicles you can use a wire and hardwire the computer to make the check engine light flash to figure out the problem, but how do i do this on my escort.

So i have two questions The odometer and the tac are picky on my 97 dodge stratus es. They only work after awhile of driving the car. This a wiring problem? Also i think my belts are slipping off track. They squeel when the heaters running (blower only works on max) or has been when im stationary. When i rev the engine sounds like they grind and then stop when i get to high enough rpm's. Whats goin on? thanks in advance

i am having problems starting my van turn the key to the on position and no power to the starter everything else works but motor will not crank. i have tried just about everything. if you jump the leads on the solenoid it will crank but the wire going to the s terminal on the solenoid is not getting any power. checked every fuse and just about every wire. if i connect a scan tool to the plug under the dash it says there is a linking error. could the computer be causing it, the anti theft device for the key, or maybe the neutral safety switch ? i dont know please help
