I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with 212,000 miles. When I step on the gas the motor hesitates and starts to shake. It stops when either I place more pressure on the gas or when I let off the gas. Does this sound like a transmission problem?

Change you PCV valve.. it is clogged and it is covered by a manifold pressure sensor. It's giving false readings to the computer. Mine was a more surging effect than shaking. A little less gas or more or a downshift eliminated it. Did it around 1800 to 2000 RPM's. Mine did it and I fixed it by changing the PCV valve and while at it I changed the air cleaner too

OK, had this problem for a few months (yeah) and finally fixed it. Bought to full CV-Axles for my 2000 GTP and replaced them. The Ujoints inside the CV were just fried. Car is as smooth as any now! Takes about 45-1.5 hours a side. Remove the brake caliber, its' mount, disconnect the outer tie rod, and sway bar to the lower control arm, loosen the lower ball joint from the knuckle to lower control arm, unbolt the hub, unbolt the two big lower strut bolts to the knuckle, pry out the CV/axle between its housing and the tranny housing, pull the knuckle around so you can angle it out of there. About 50 bucks a piece at partsgeek. I got an extra driver's side full CV/halfAxle if needed. Not sure my RMA (double ordered) is still good.

Low coolant, upload coolant and examine for leaks, and examine your oil, seem for leaks or a grayish coloration. you need to probably have a blown head gasket. The screech will be a free or worn belt.

The problem: You're asphyxiating those two in the trunk. let them out, and the shaking on acceleration is guaranteed to stop.
