I have a 92 Toyota Previa that I use for road trips. I have the car aligned before every major road trip which is about every 5-8k miles. Is this too often? What are the effects of not getting your car aligned besides poor handling?

I took my car 2003 Hyundai Elantra to my dealer today to diagnose a brake problem (intermittant dragging somewhere) I've been having since the temp. dropped below freezing last week. It has 43,000 miles with the original pads front and rear (4 wheel disk brakes with ABS and Traction control).
The rear pads were freezing to the rotor off and on and were scored. There was debris and rust built up where the pads slide back and forth against the rotors. On the fronts , a pad was starting to separate from the backing plate. It was suggested that I get new pads front and rear. They would also resurface all 4 rotors , clean out the rust and debris , and lube the slides.
Total for this came to $500 dollars!!!! $230 per axle plus tax! I could have gone to a local tire place and gotten away with $80 per axle plus 80 to resurface all four rotors for a total of $240 plus tax.
I didn't because all 4 wheels were off , the calipers unbolted , and the pads sitting on the rotors already.

This only happens when its cold outside... for whatever reason. I have a 99 Acura CL & the shifter gets stuck and I can't move the stupid thing! I checked the manual, and there is actually a little slot next to the shifter where you can stick your key to move the shifter. It works normally during the afternoon when the sun comes out, but it's a big pain to deal with. I don't want to do this everytime I drive. How can I fix this?

Hello I'm not an expert mechanic..... I was doing a minor tune-up on my 1991 Toyota Camry (88,000 miles) and I found a spark plug with oil at the base where it threads. I'm wondering what this means and how it can affect the overall life of the engine and how much will I need to spend on parts and labor.? I appreciate your responses....thank you.

the car is fuel injected but it putts up to a start. the rpm's slowly build up until if finally starts and then it will die if i don't hold my foot on the gas for a few minutes after. also, when i pull up to a stop sign and put it in neutral (its a stick) the rpm's drop down really low and then jumps back up. any ideas? thanks.

On a 1989 thunderbird, the coil has a wire that goes to a small metal cylender. I think this is called the "condenser". What does it do? what happens if it goes bad?

Also, how do you tell if the coil is going bad?
