there's a wire clip connecting it to the speed sensor in the transmission. pull the wire clip out and the speedomoeter cable will come off.

In addition to the clip on the transmission, it may be necessary to disassemble the instrument cluster (dashboard) to remove the cable from the back of the speedometer. If you are lucky and you can do it just from the transmission side, the inner cable might just pull out and the new one can be pushed in. A little graphite lubricant would be helpful on the new cable.
