This only happens when its cold outside... for whatever reason. I have a 99 Acura CL & the shifter gets stuck and I can't move the stupid thing! I checked the manual, and there is actually a little slot next to the shifter where you can stick your key to move the shifter. It works normally during the afternoon when the sun comes out, but it's a big pain to deal with. I don't want to do this everytime I drive. How can I fix this?

Take the shifter off, clean all the areas that you can get to. Than apply WD-40 all over. Put the shifter back on, and shift it for a few seconds, Than take the shifter off one more time and spray again.Than you should be good to go. Good Luck.....Also check your transmission fluid level....

Part of the problem may be related to the "brake/shifter lockout" mechanism. You have to step on the brake in order to shift out of park, and the electric mechanism can get "dirty", not allowing the plunger to release until it warms up and the grease and dirt softens, allowing the electric plunger to work. Any way you go about this, you need to take the vehicle to a qualified mechanic/transmission shop and have the transmission serviced and repaired for this problem. You can't do it yourself unless you really know about transmissions. It may only require the mechanism to be cleaned, greased and replaced.
