My 1988 Olds Cutlass V-6 with Front wheel drive is hard to steer for the first 2-3 minutes when first started. If it idles for 5-6 minutes, it operates normally. The power steering fluid level is ok and the power steering pump has been drained and flushed. The belt is tight and there is no squealing in the power steering pump. What is making it hard to steer when the engine is cold?

the transmission feels that it gets really hot, but sometimes only even when its not loaded. Sometimes its really loaded and it wont get hot. It does it randomly on different ocassions. Is this normal? It gets to the point were if I put a beverage in the cup holder it will get it hot I could also feel it next to my leg when im on the gas pedal.

I had to have it towed last night because it died all of a sudden. It had been running fine all night, but I did notice it was just a tad slow to start. That night while waiting on the truck I got it started but it would only idle. If it was revved, it would die. It was hissing loudly, but I didn't find the problem until today.

Today, I found a vacuum leak that was causing the hiss. I hooked the line back up, and the car still took a long time to start. Once started, it idles smoothly and I can rev it all the way up but if I press the gas too quickly, it will die. I took it down the road and it has a pretty bad loss of power, and it hesitates and stutters now and then. After I shut it off I noticed a sulfur-like smell.

Fuel pressure reads 40 pounds, which is in operating range I believe. Fuel/air mix reads extremely rich when I rev the engine while parked.

I've been told that all three went bad at the same time, or it's the car's computer, which would cost about the same amount to replace, but they won't know if it's the computer unless the coils are replaced first. Does this make sense, or are they just trying to get more money out of me? HELP!!!

1.The car is manual 5 speed gear saloon.
2.Its a Mitsubushi variant.
3. It is a 13 years old car one careful owner with no history of gear problems.
4. This problem has occurred intermittenly since last week.
5. The previous week at the car wash, one of cleaners crashed the gears on moving the car. Could this be the cause?

I had to have it towed last night. After running fine all night, it died while I was turning a corner and wouldn't start back up. While waiting on the tow truck I managed to get it started, but it would only idle. If I revved it above 2,000RPM, it died. It also had a loud hissing under the hood.

Today I found the hiss. It was a vacuum leak. I plugged that back in, and the car is still very hard to get started, but will rev all the way to the top. If you press the gas too quickly though, it dies. While trying to start, it will chug and cough through the intake. I can turn the starter for a couple of seconds and then let off, and it will turn over 2 or 3 more times by itself trying to start. Sometimes if I listen, I can hear a mechanical "clink" followed by a beeping sound somewhere on the drivers side in the engine compartment.

I drove it and noticed a loss in power. It also hesitates now and then.

Fuel pressure reads 40 pounds which is normal.

I added to much oil and the oil pressure went all the way up to high and i drove it home and the next day my husband took out all the oil then replaced it with the correct amount, but it still shows as high. Now it's making a noise and we don't know what to do or what it may be. It's just been sitting in our drive way for about a week. We can't afford to take it to the dealership right now. He lost his job and i'm the only one working.

My father knows nothing about cars and well he proceeded to add about a quart of oil to the transmission. (2004 Chevrolet Cavalier). It seems that know it does have the same acceleration and smooth shifting as before.....how can doing this affect the trans. It can possibly render the tranny useless??? Your responses are appreciated, thanks.
