My mothers 98 Nissan will not start. Was running fine and parked it. Went out next day and would not crank. It turns over but will not start up. A mechanic has been working on for couple of days. Says it is getting gas, fuel pump is working fine, getting spark (did change spark plugs). He said it was not the timeing belt or the crank shaft (I think that is what he said). He has rulled out everything that would have been minor but is going to have to go deeper. Said it could be a cracked head but he said they way it happened it didn't sound like that. Also could be blown head gasket but everyone I owned that had a blown gasket, I was even able to figure out what happened. Said it is getting pressure in the valves and shouldn't. two of the cylenders(spelled wrong and I think that is what it is called) was not getting enough pressure. Nothing shows up on the computer. My mother is very worried and upset. The guy was very highly recommended and alot of experience.any ideas

My son reciently had a motor replaced in a 90 Celica. When he got the car home it ran perfectly.and did for 2 weeks . Last night he was coming home from work and turned into the drive and the car died. It would start for a couple seconds and then die. I replaced the fuel filter and and the fuel pump is working. It has always worked very well, then about three weeks ago for a whole week it did not come on at ALL. Luckily i live in a state that is not too cold, so i had not needed it.

Then the week after that it came on just fine. Then on Tuesday it did the same thing but for one day only.
I have not had it checked yet. The weather is still warm, but in January it can get real cold!
I've never had a car whose heat had stopped working?

Do not know if it is a problem yet but my car's exhaust is leaking clear oily fluid. It is not a lot but enough to make a puddle. This started four days ago after I brought it to Toyota for an oil change. Should I go back to Toyota?
Do any of you know what it could be?

Remember there is no color to it, it does not have a particular smell and it is NOT water.

Thnx!

Hi!
I've recently purchased a Rover 100 Metro to get me from A to B for a few months.
I recently had a burst water pipe and had it re-installed at a reputable garage. However, every 2-3days I have to fill the car up with my coolant as the heater gauge goes up.
Do you think it could be anything else or does it sound like they might not have attached the pipe properly.
I don't fancy going back to that garage as they charged me £12 just to put anti-freeze in it!

I don't know a great deal about cars but one of my collegues at work said that it may be a hole in the radiator tank and that I should use a filler in the system to find any holes.

any help would be appreciated!

I went to a Midas to get tag lights changed for a WRO issued in Maryland. I got the rear brakes done as well since I was there and they have that lifetime warranty. Turned out new drums were needed as well, mileage over 105K on the car. When the mechanic took the car on the road test after the brake job, he avoided a total collision but ended up going off the road and hit a sign, which damaged the roof and hood of the car. They didn't get the information off the other guy who admitted to causing the accident other than the name and number. They didn't call the police. They told me to take it to a shop that they are friendly with outside of business. I called my insurance company since it seems shady to me, and I don't live in that area. Shop owner (who is the mechanic's father) hung up on my insurance agent when she called for information from him. Mechanic was very cooperative with her but stated third party admitted fault. I need my car fixed, a rental and it's $3K in damages. Help!

I am getting poor mileage (10 mpg or so) on 95 GMC 3/4 ton 4WD pick up. It was running a little rough so I changed spark plugs (gap.35) It runs better but still a little rough. Old spark plugs had a white crust over the tip. Inside the air filter cover was a little oily. Don't know if that matters or what it means. What do I have to do to make it run smoother? I don't want to take it to someone because I can live with the roughness if I have too and don't really have the money to repair it. please help

first i noticed the dash lights flckering on and off, then the screaming sound constantly, then my temp gage is slowly started to go up, both batt and brake lights have came on, and the heater suddenly started blowing out cold air all last night on my way home. i just had new tires, new belts, a week ago and i have good reason to believe that the person who worked on my car maybe has something to do with the sudden problems im having. someone told me that the bearings on the alternator are bad, so i have no clue.....help please?!!!
