I had to have it towed last night. After running fine all night, it died while I was turning a corner and wouldn't start back up. While waiting on the tow truck I managed to get it started, but it would only idle. If I revved it above 2,000RPM, it died. It also had a loud hissing under the hood.

Today I found the hiss. It was a vacuum leak. I plugged that back in, and the car is still very hard to get started, but will rev all the way to the top. If you press the gas too quickly though, it dies. While trying to start, it will chug and cough through the intake. I can turn the starter for a couple of seconds and then let off, and it will turn over 2 or 3 more times by itself trying to start. Sometimes if I listen, I can hear a mechanical "clink" followed by a beeping sound somewhere on the drivers side in the engine compartment.

I drove it and noticed a loss in power. It also hesitates now and then.

Fuel pressure reads 40 pounds which is normal.

Air/fuel ratio reads very rich (all the way up) when I rev the engine, and leans out to the red when the engine decelerates.

I should add that when it first starts it idles up to 2,000RPM then settles down to normal.

It also blows some smoke back through the intake. whenever it chugs. It doesn't smoke while running, though.

Hi there, Might be one of your sensors "lying" to the computer. was it raining when it died last night? also, check all the "normal" stuff like your air cleaner, make sure you have good gas in it... may have gotten a bad tank somewhere. Is your service engine soon light on? also, you said that the vaccuum leak was a disconnected hose....check around, there may be other things knocked off as well...something caused the vaccuum line to come off.

Have you run codes on it yet? If your engine light is on, then you can get the computer read for free at Autozone. It sounds like it could be a couple of things, but I'd start with your fuel and air sensors, like the TPS and IAC. After that, I'd go to your timing. There is a chance that the timing was thrown off with the vacuum leak. After you make some repairs, especially to the sensors, leave the battery unplugged for a half hour, then plug it back in. You'll lose your radio presets, but it should reset your computer as well.

i have self belief you've a blocked catyalitic converter or muffler. to target this unbolt the exhaust in the front of the converter..this is going to likely be loud yet you ought to work out an advance in the potential branch.then you actually ought to connect the converter actually .in case you lack potential back the converter is block.this would ensue with mileage. If it runs ok connect the muffler and word what occurs. both one in all those issues are affected purchase short runs and condisation (which motives rust) because the engine does no longer attain a classic (warm) operating temperature
