I am finishing up installation of a new 5.0 L in my 1990 Ford. I was thinking of getting a K&N air filter, but saw Fram advertises their "Airhog" filters as being as good. The Airhog is reuseable and orange like K&N and it only would cost $10 after Fram's $20 rebate (http://info.rockauto.com/Honeywell/FRAMDetail.html?PPA5056_012406.jpg) But if I get a lifetime filter I might as well get the best one right from the start. Anybody recommend Airhog vs. K&N or some other brand for the Ford 5.0?

Ok I need to replace the "a-pipe" on my car because there is a bad internal weld creating one hell of a buzz. I am 100% sure this is the cause of the annoying noise. I'm thinking just replace the whole piece with an aftermarket header because to buy the OEM piece would be much more expensive. The question is...will putting on an aftermarket header create any problems in that I will have maybe a more free flowing header coupled with the stock exhaust? I'm not after performance here, it's just that I want the noise gone and an aftermarket header is much less expensive.

do I turn the pipe wrench clockwise or counterclockwise? Just asked and everyone said counterclockwise till a women said it made a difference if you are looking down or up at it, so which is right

Also It is plastic and stuck and bits of plastic are flaking off when I try to turn, if it is stuck, what will help loosen it? I don't want to break it. Thanks for answering both questions.

I own an Astra 98' with 1.6i engine that has 75 hp. A friend of mine has a VW Golf that has 1.3i engine and also 75 hp. I was thinking that as mine has 300 cc more, it should have at least 10 hp more!? Is there any way, another air intake system, different sparks or something like that to give me a few hp more? Thanks!

from viewers ,but the problem remains unsolved.
1. I got the radiator thorougly cleaned,
2. I got the radiator coils removed,
3. I got the valve fitted in pipe line removed,
4. I got the radiator fan replaced fom 80W to 120W (solved problem to quiet an extent but not fully)
5. I got the head gasket replaced (on advice of a reputed mechanic)
I got the AC system inspected . What the mechanics did , they bypassed the thermostat as because of it the AC was repeatedly tripping.
The car now gets heated in summers to the extent that water starts boiling.
The ONLY option now seems left is to get the radiator replaced.
BUT what seemes to me is that the radiator in a factory AC car is of the same size and material as in a non Ac car.
With such an experience I feel that 1 should never get an Ac installed.
IF still somebody can advise, kindly do so.

I have a manual transmission 1999 Ford Explorer Sport. The parking brakes are not working. I'm wondering how much does it cost to get it fixed. If you had your parking brakes fixed in your car, how much did it cost? I'm trying to get a range estimate.
