I have no data for part number which is match for the engine. Any body know that what is the Gear-box (automatic) part number for toyota 4age 20v silvertop? please help.

Those of you who have followed my story know im having a hard time with my 87 Bronco II.
I finally got it to the shop today to find out whats causing the fuel overload ie. puffs of black smoke, chugging and cutting off.
Well the mechanic there says it needs a tune up.He says that my spark plugs are "carbonized" and my wires are original (!) on top off that hes charging me $300 bucks.
He assures me this is the place to start and hes almost sure this will solve my problems.
My last mechanic says that its full overload, or running rich but not the 02 sensor.He says this burns out the spark plugs but he didnt have the time too look into it.
The question is, could a tune up really be the culprit? Anyone who's had a similar problem please respond.
Im not guessing at the problem as a previous poster said.This truck has been in and out of the shop the last 2 wks.I just spent $300 on a Catylic converter as well.I just want to approach these mechanics with a little knowledge.THANKS GUYS!

my girlfriend bought this car and it never had the cover for the fuse comp. under the dash. need correct amps in all spots and cant afford a book. no low beam headlights is the original problem, high beams work fine

Starting Saturday, my truck has been idling very roughly and making about 8mpg (compared to 16 earlier that day). I cleaned the throttle body, changed th eoil (to Royal Purple), replaced the spark plugs with Bosch Platinum 4, checked the plug wires distributor car and rotor, replaced the coolant temperature sensor, put cleaner in the gas, and everything else I can think of. It's still making plenty of power like it used to but it's getting about half the gas mileage and idling very rough (shaking the whole truck like a 454). It sounds like it's running on about 4 cylinders at idle. I'm thinking it might be an exhaust valve or two because the tailpipe sucks in air about every stroke (if you hold a dollar or piece of paper at the end, it sucks it in) If you have any ideas I would really appreciate it.
P.S. I recently replaced the fuel filter too.

I have a 94 accord ex, with automatic tranny and 2.2L Vtec engine. When i press the gas my rpm shoots up really fast like when your driving normall and accadently shifting to nuetral then the rpm shoots up unless you shift back to drive. But my problem is it shoots up wen i try to accelerate faster. When that does happend i let go of the gas and press again. So if anybody knows anything please, i would appreaciate your help.

When I make a right or left turn my steering wheel isn't turning like it should. It locks up half way and I have to use a little force to make a turn. My right turns are wide like a 18 wheeler making a right turn. My left turns are the same way but I have a bit more control when turning. This started happening off and on a couple weeks back but has gotten worse with the colder weather.. I had it checked out at the nearest auto center when it first happen and they found nothing wrong with the power steering fluid and pump. They didn't take the steering wheel off to see if something could be wrong in that area. And when they test drove it the steering wheel didn't even lock up. I had it check someplace else and the same thing-they test drove it and the wheel didn't act up. Could a problerm with the rack and pinion be causing the steering wheel to lock up? The front end doesn't need an alignment, but I had the back end done 2 weeks ago.

Hi, i drive an 84 firebird with the 305 v8. Anyways, when you try to turn it on in the morning the first time it wont turn over but instead the choke light will come on inside, so you kinda have to push the gas a little to get it started and then the engine will bring itself up to about 3000 rpm and then slowly go down and turn off. But my biggest problem is that the car is idleing at about 2000 all the time even while driving you can tell that its very accelerated. But after a short time of driving it around the motor will calm down and it drives perfectly, but i dont what the deal is if theres anybody out there that knows whats wrong please tell me because i really want to get this problem fixed, but ill probably end up taking it to a mechanic anyways. Thanks

My car has been puttering out on me. It does not do it all the time. Just a few times per week. When the prob occurs I turn on the car then it kind of putters like a cat would purr, then it will cut off if I don't put my foot on the gas quickly. on the highway it will drive fine. Then when I come to a stop it will start the purring then cut out again. Service engine light is on and the codes that come up are mass air flow sensor and egr valve. Could this be causing the problem or is it something else. It does not do it all the time. Some days it will start up and drive just fine. If you need more details to answer question let me know
