My car has been puttering out on me. It does not do it all the time. Just a few times per week. When the prob occurs I turn on the car then it kind of putters like a cat would purr, then it will cut off if I don't put my foot on the gas quickly. on the highway it will drive fine. Then when I come to a stop it will start the purring then cut out again. Service engine light is on and the codes that come up are mass air flow sensor and egr valve. Could this be causing the problem or is it something else. It does not do it all the time. Some days it will start up and drive just fine. If you need more details to answer question let me know

Your EGR valve is getting stuck (sometimes).

It's common. and will need to be replaced.

chevys r known to have bad mass air flows and egr problems from the sounds of it it is a egr prob and the passage get plugged u need to take off the egr and egr tube clean and reinstall a pipe cleaner brush works well for the tube spray the egr with a little air intake cleaner let it sit then spray it again and wipe it off then spray it with some wd-40 wipe off the excess and reinstall u might still have a mass air prob but that eliminates the egr first so u don't buy both

yes those things can cause it,also did you check the gas filter, also is the air filter clogged and shutting off the air?and run a fuel pump test on your car,if it is ok,then you can rule the pump out, also check the fuel regulator on the fuel rail.

i own a repair shop, and if you have trouble codes on a car you have to repair them before you can determine whats causing this problem to exist on it,other wise your just fighting a loosing battle ,you,ll never get it to run right until all codes are repaired or the problems are taken care of,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
