I have a small block Chevy with a stock mechanical fuel pump. Should the fuel pressure drop to zero when the engine is shut off? Mine is holding about 7 psi after shut off and when the engine is hot, it will flood the carb while the engine is not running making it hard to start back up.

I have a 1999 Ford Contour. I replaced the rotors, pads, drums, shoes, and the brake fluid valves. This vibration did not occur before the brake work was done. The mechanic is saying this is more related to the tires, not the brake sytem. I am not convinced.

Got a Ford Taurus '98 from a local dealer, bought it "as is". Checked it at Firestone about a month later (just regular maintenance) and they told me that transmission's gone bad , the fluid is black and it will cost me couple thousands to fix it!!!!!!
I was soooo bummed!!! The dealer told me that the car was free from any defects and good to go. However the mechanic said that that crap did not happen overnight and the transmission MUST be changed, but the dealer said that if it runs, it's not necessary and Firestone just wants money from me. I feel that something's not right when I switch from Drive to reverse and vice versa and when I'm turning, but I have no clue what to do.
ANY HELP????

Starting Saturday, my truck has been idling very roughly and making about 8mpg (compared to 16 earlier that day). It doesn't vibrate when you give it throttle though. I cleaned the throttle body, changed the oil (to Royal Purple), replaced the spark plugs with Bosch Platinum 4, checked the plug wires, distributor car and rotor, replaced the coolant temperature sensor, put cleaner in the gas, checked and cleaned the EGR valve, checked vaccuum lines, and everything else I can think of. It's still making plenty of power like it used to but it's getting about half the gas mileage and idling very rough (shaking the whole truck like a 454). It sounds like it's running on about 4 cylinders at idle. I'm thinking it might be an exhaust valve or two because the tailpipe sucks in air about every stroke (if you hold a dollar or piece of paper at the end, it sucks it in) If you have any ideas I would really appreciate it.
P.S. I recently replaced the fuel filter too.

I heard that if the module on your distributor get's too hot then your truck loses alot of power.. i have been having power troubles lately and i just put in a brand new 350 engine.. the truck is an 88' and the distributor has never been changed so that could be one of the problems.. Do you think if GM plugged my truck into the computer they would find a problem with my distributor? Everything else on the truck is fine..

I have a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign and am running into a problem that I don't understand. The car will start fine and run until you stop and turn the engine off. If you try to start the car back before the engine cools, it will start at first but when you try to put it in gear the engine will die. When the engine is cool it will restart fine. Any idea what could be the cause of this? Thanks

the starter seems to turn over fine, lots of battery power. It will almost catch when I turn the key then it just revs the starter. It's a manual so I can pop the clutch when I get it rolling, starts no problem doing that. Five minutes later I will turn off the car and then turn it back on with the keys no problem
