My car is a 2005 with an automatic trans. I would really like to have a bit over 200 horsepower, so any real help would be appreciated. Now it is such a slug it will n ot get out of its own way.

It would be cheaper if you buy a supercharger for your stock Matrix engine. The parts are from TRD and will not void your warranty. It will give you the boost you want. You can purchase the kit at the Toyota service department and either have them install or do it yourself.
