Ok I need to replace the "a-pipe" on my car because there is a bad internal weld creating one hell of a buzz. I am 100% sure this is the cause of the annoying noise. I'm thinking just replace the whole piece with an aftermarket header because to buy the OEM piece would be much more expensive. The question is...will putting on an aftermarket header create any problems in that I will have maybe a more free flowing header coupled with the stock exhaust? I'm not after performance here, it's just that I want the noise gone and an aftermarket header is much less expensive.

I've had it welded twice. They keep breaking and the noise comes back. What it is is a double walled pipe...a pipe inside of a pipe. The inner pipe buzzes against the outer pipe. Only way to weld it is to burn holes in it and then fill. I figure it's just time to replace it.

Yes get the aftermarket header with the stock muffler. It will still work just fine. If anything it will perform better and be quiet.

If you go with the header make sure the 0-2 sensor remains very near the stock location. Heat generated and unshielded could damage other components.

well you should look around online and see if people had the same problem and ask what you could do to get it
