do I turn the pipe wrench clockwise or counterclockwise? Just asked and everyone said counterclockwise till a women said it made a difference if you are looking down or up at it, so which is right
Also It is plastic and stuck and bits of plastic are flaking off when I try to turn, if it is stuck, what will help loosen it? I don't want to break it. Thanks for answering both questions.

If you're looking down at it turn it clockwise to loosen.

By filter , you mean the screen and aerator? Clockwise is correct but make sure to use an old rag to cover the faucet where the wrench will touch it. The teeth of the wrench will scratch the finish . Use an old tooth brush and tooth paste to clean the rust and sediment out. If you damage it, it can be replaced. Finger tighten it when you go to put it back together.
