I've had good luck with a hair dryer. Direct the hot air onto the sticker being sure to keep it moving back and forth. The sticker will begin to soften. Carefully lift a corner and keep the hot air going concentraiting on warming the sticker right where it is lifting off. Done gently the residue will lift off with the sticker. Do not let go of the sticker until it's completely off.

Try a product called Goo-Gone. You can usually find it near the cleaning and laundry products at a grocery store. It works great at releasing glues and adhesives. Mine came in a small yellow bottle with a black label and it was pretty cheap. I use it on a lot of stuff.

Warm soap and water should get it off easily. You may have to scrub with a rag, but it will not harm the paint.
