I put in a set of 2-prong(or two lead) Bosch Platinums about 12,000 miles ago in a 300E Benz. I used to run a standard platinum Bosch plug, and wonder if the price to 'upgrade' is really worth it.

Any input?

I have a 1998 GMC Sierra with a 4.3L V6, but it's impossible to find a Cold air intake that's designed to fit this engine. Can a cold air intake designed for a 5.7L, 5.3L, or a 6.0L V8 work?

This is on a 1998 Buick Regal. On this model the turn signal bulbs are always on (solid no-blinking) when the vehicle is running.
Problem with front turn signals. Passenger side burns out at the base of the bulb within one day. Driver side blinks slowly, or doesn't blink at all (intermittant). Driver side dash indicator is dim, or sometimes doesn't light at all. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I recently bought a 1997 Cinquecento, its a nice little runner, all in good shape, except the bonnet/hood catch doesnt work properly.
The main catch works fine (the one you pull the lever on the dash to release), it's the secondary manual catch that you unhitch with your hand, that's not working right.
At the moment i have to push it open using a spanner.
If i don't fix it before the next MOT, it'll fail :-(
It's a fairly simple looking wire mechanism, it looks like its probably bent out of shape, but as i have no point of reference (ie a photo), i dont know what i need to do to fix it.
The Haynes manual i have is no help!!

Would anyone be able to take a couple of photos of the wire manual release catch on the underside of the bonnet and email it to me please?

Your help would be much appreciated.

My email addy is angelbeat78@yahoo.co.uk

We own a 2004 Mercury Monterey and up until now have not had any serious issues with it. We got gas from Sam's Club on Wednesday and Friday and their gas is 10% ethanol which our van is not used to. We also got our oil and our air filter changed on Wednesday as well.

Yesterday our check engine/ emissions light came on, so we went through the troubleshooting list in our manual. We added dry gas, checked the gas cap, made sure the filter was installed properly. The check engine light is still on, and the manual says if the problem has been resolved it should shut off after three cold start cycles running the van.

What I am wondering is, is there a possibility that the ethanol mix could affect our vehicle or could it have something to do with the oil change?

Anyone ever had this happen or have knowledge of what this might be?

I drive 60 miles everyday in stop and go traffic. I have 36,000 miles on my car and recently changed the transmission fluid. Is this going to help with my car with gas mileage and/or help the transmission last longer?

Hi!

Can the mechanics on this forum (or anyone else who has knowledge of cars) help me?

I need to know the name (or names-- technical and slang) of the stick that comes off the steering wheel column that allows you to put your automobile in park, drive, etc.

Also, if you know the name of the stick which allows you to park, switch gears, etc. in a manual transmission vehicle, please list that as well.
:)

One more thing-- for those who know a lot about the history of cars...

Have the names of these "sticks" changed since the invention of the automobile? I mean, is the technical/slang name of the "stick" in a automobile the same now as it was throughout the history of the automobile. If not, what was the name of the "stick" in the 1930's and 1940's?

Thanks...
T.

Our RV has some small damage to the exterior fiberglass that we I repaired with a fiberglass repair kit. No leakake, but off color. I would like to paint a small design over the damaged area to give it a more professional look. Is there an appropriate way to paint over a fibeglass repair (it is a brown color and our RV is white).

It pisses me off when morons that don't have a clue, tell people to disconnect the positive battery terminal.

This is not so much a question, as trying to educate people.

If while you have your wrench on the POSITIVE terminal, and the negative terminal is still connected, if your wrench touches anything metal, you will have a direct short to ground!!!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, trust anyone that tells you to disconnect the positive battery terminal. THEY'RE STUPID!!!!!
