i have an '87 dodge aries and a '89 dodge omni. i'd like to swap the engines if the problem with the transmission isn't the oil. does anyone know if they'll go into eachother?

The engines and transmissions should swap straight across. The Omni has a smaller engine bay and some of the other parts may be slightly different. Some things that may be different such as the axles, radiator and engine mounts. Try the following websites.

If they are both the same size engines they will interchange. The Aries is probably a 2.2 or 2.5 liter and the Omni may have a smaller engine. If the engine is the same size it will go right in, however, there were several combinations of axles. You may have to swap some drive axles around to get the proper lengths. Good luck !

If they're the Chrysler 2.2 or 2.5, yes. The engines are almost identical from the outside. If the Aries had a Mitsubishi 2.6, it may be hard to put into the Omni.

If you are referring to the 2.2L/2.5L, the answer is yes.
