It pisses me off when morons that don't have a clue, tell people to disconnect the positive battery terminal.

This is not so much a question, as trying to educate people.

If while you have your wrench on the POSITIVE terminal, and the negative terminal is still connected, if your wrench touches anything metal, you will have a direct short to ground!!!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, trust anyone that tells you to disconnect the positive battery terminal. THEY'RE STUPID!!!!!

Although your intentions are admirable, you probably won't get to the truly stupid solely because they don't know there truly stupid.

I would add to this that some newer model vehicles need to have a memory saver battery installed into the cigarette lighter before disconnecting the battery or some costly ECM programming will have to be done by a dealer.

Yeah, they are. Lots of people don't understand that they can keep the "hot" terminal connected and be fine as long as the neg. is disconnected.

negative before positive is a good rule to live by when it comes to car batteries my dad would have said live and learn after you melt some of your expensive tools and blow some fuses maybe even burn the c*** out of yourself you will learn the hard way

GOOD LUCK WITH EDUCATING MORONS BUDDY. I JUST FIXED A GUYS CAR, HE HOOKED HIS RADIO UP, CAR WOULDN'T START, I ASKED "DID YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY" HE SAID, NO WE CHECKED THE FUSES, NOTHING BLOWN, THE DUMBASS HAD CUT HIS IGNITION WIRE TO POWER THE HEAD UNIT. Just one of the amigos' that installs carpet for the company where I work
