since I changed the plug wires (they were pretty eroded) and put a new Distributor Button in (that was worn a bit) could this make the plugs run hotter and have a better spark?

The car is running too rich. This can be due to a vaccuum leak or even a bad O2 sensor. Have a diagnostic scan run on it.

By carbon I will assume you mean they look baked and caked. Your car may be running to rich, bad O2 sensor maybe, clogged or dirty air filter, sounds like it's getting to much fuel and not enough air in any case. If it's a newer car with no problems except that, I would say change the PCV, the air filter, the plugs (of course ) and maybe some high test for about 100 miles and check them again

Fuel mixture is to rich, a weak spark, faulty timing, low compression, or wrong heat range. Hotter plugs burn off the deposits.

This usually means you are running rich (too much fuel). You can back the fuel pressure down if it's fuel injected, or you'll have to change the jet size if you're carburated. This would probably be something to take to a shop.

1. To rich fuel-air mixture.

2. Wrong spark plugs: they're running too cold.

3. Timing too late.

4. Combustion chamber improperly designed?

Is this two stroke or four stroke?
