I recently bought a 1997 Cinquecento, its a nice little runner, all in good shape, except the bonnet/hood catch doesnt work properly.
The main catch works fine (the one you pull the lever on the dash to release), it's the secondary manual catch that you unhitch with your hand, that's not working right.
At the moment i have to push it open using a spanner.
If i don't fix it before the next MOT, it'll fail :-(
It's a fairly simple looking wire mechanism, it looks like its probably bent out of shape, but as i have no point of reference (ie a photo), i dont know what i need to do to fix it.
The Haynes manual i have is no help!!

Would anyone be able to take a couple of photos of the wire manual release catch on the underside of the bonnet and email it to me please?

Your help would be much appreciated.

My email addy is angelbeat78@yahoo.co.uk

The catch should be adjustable. Just like the strike pin on the door of your car is adjustable.
See if you can adjust it and make it work better. Move it a little and tighten it. Try it out.if it gets worse adjust it the other way till you find the happy spot it needs.
I don't think it's the wire because when you pull it in the car the hood pops up a little. Meaning the cable is working.
