while driving down the road, my car will just die and turn off..and my check engine light stays on. when i start it up again, the rpm guadgewill go up and down without stepping on the gas....and then sometimes it has a hard time staying on. i think it may be my alternator...but not quite sure....any second opinions out there?

i recently had a 60K mile maintennance on my 1998 mitsubish eclipse. shop kept my car for 2 weeks and charged $2000. they told me i had a 12K mile or 1 year warranty on the car. one week later my car broke down again. shop is now telling me that the water pump broke down causing the head gasket to blow and the engine to melt. they are keeping the car for 4 weeks (estimated) and want to charge my $2500 because they say the pump is not covered on a maintennance warranty. i want to take them to small claims court. do i have a case?

i got hookups with some automotive shops that give me wholesale prices, but im moving, and i was wondering if u needed ase certification or if u need to own a shop, or if theres some interent shop where u can skip all of the needed credentials, i need to save money, and working with wholsale parts makes a big diference if ure doing roadside work for people. thanks.

My van was parked out side in Los Angeles, and was the victime of a drive by shooting, I got one on the driverside fender, one through the hood but not the under lining so the bullet rattles around in there, and the other throught the condenser and radiator. just trying to save some money and do the job myself you know..

I have a 1987 Nissan Sentra as my first car. i am only 15 and dont even have my permit yet. I got the car for free from a friend and didnt mind this little problem. I dont have a lot of money and am not looking to spend more than the car is worth to fix the problem. When i stop at lights the engine stalls and shut off unless i throw the car into neutral. I dont really mind do so i just would like the car to run better so i have less to worry about. Thank you

Ok, I have a 1995 Mazda Pickup, with 70K miles, I went to the store the other night, came out didn't start barely any turnover when starting. Had a car with same engine try to jump, nothing. Came back the next morning and brought the Van with larger engine and started right up after jumping for about 2 minutes. I drove him home about 5 minutes away ran fine. About 2 hours later go out to start same thing won't start practically no turnover crank when starting. What is my problem? Need new battery or could it be some other kind of problem. There was a lot of corrosion on the negative signal.
