Get your automatic gear box serviced and mention the bands need tightening, this will resolve the issue.

Have you changed the transmission fluid and filter? I would start with this. You don't mention what make, year, and model of vehicle you drive so it's a bit difficult to guess. Depending on the vehicle, it may also have a soloniod on the side of the transmission which needs replacing.
Check you tranny fluid and see how clean it looks, if its dirty, change it and the filter, then go from there if you still have problems.

it could be a few things...check the fluid level after it has been driven a few miles. the torque convertor may need to be replaced, or the transmission might just need to be serviced. find out the last time it was done.

Either the trans fluid is overheating, or you need fluid in it, and most likely need the fluid replaced as its being burnt, badly. Could be in need of a transmission overhaul. Good luck.

Check transmission fluid,it breaks down just like oil does. The older it is,and the hotter it gets, the thinner it gets. Also could be that filter is getting plugged up cause it needs to be changed. But worst case is that its just getting weak. But from experiance, just check it.But if its been awile ,change the fluid and filter.

Sounds like either your clutch is going out or the gears are wearing down in your transmission.
