Ok, I have a 1995 Mazda Pickup, with 70K miles, I went to the store the other night, came out didn't start barely any turnover when starting. Had a car with same engine try to jump, nothing. Came back the next morning and brought the Van with larger engine and started right up after jumping for about 2 minutes. I drove him home about 5 minutes away ran fine. About 2 hours later go out to start same thing won't start practically no turnover crank when starting. What is my problem? Need new battery or could it be some other kind of problem. There was a lot of corrosion on the negative signal.

If you cleaned the battery terminals good and it still won't charge, you probably need a battery. If the alternator were not charging, the truck wouldn't run, or at least would perform very poorly. Get a parts store to check you battery/charging system. Most will do it for free.

My motor vehicle is a t-reg and a fortnight in the past had a completely flat battery - incredibly no longer something worked. had to call out the RAC. seems i'd left an inner easy on (y'comprehend the sunshine that comes on once you open your motor vehicle door?), i'd switched it on finished yet no longer switched it off till now locking up the vehicle so as that left the circuit open and drained the battery in under 24hrs. Sooo.... examine little issues like that too. After the battery %. became related my motor vehicle all started interior 2 minutes. Do you have leap leads and a style neighbour? supply that a whirl, and as quickly as the vehicle gets all started, rev the engine each and every so in many cases - it facilitates the battery to cost. you're meant to maintain it charging for greater or less 60-ninety minutes *yet* mine became charged for 20mins and then I went out on a 40minchronic as this boosted it lots speedier and that i've got had no problems with it because. If I have been you i'd attempt leap-leads and yet another motor vehicle and if that failed, basically then purchase a clean battery.

bad corrosion will cause a lot of starting issues but if you should clean all the corrosion away and starts good then problem solved but it really sounds like there is problem with your battery you have 70k on it and sounds like original battery most definitely around five or more years old it is ready for replacement good luck

If your lights inside the car are acting up on you, then it might be the alternator. I had the same problem a few days ago, where the radio would turn off when I stop at a signal light, and the ABS and BATTERY lights would turn on and off, like a haunted car!. It cost me 300 bucks (Canadian) to get it fixed. Hopefully, you'll find a better deal!!

Sounds like the alternator needs to be replaced. Probably the battery too. You might take a good look at the battery cables too.

The positive side gets more corrosion on it than the negative.
Remove both terminals. (negative first) and use a small pocket knife to scrape the scale off the inside of the terminals, and off the posts of the battery.

I would try cleaning the connections and making sure everything has a good connection first......then have the battery tested......but it sounds like your alternator has gone out and isn't charging your battery. Most automotive stores will test that too.....if you pull it out and take it in.

Clean the terminals first and see what happends. If nothing then replace the battery. While your at it get the altenator tested.

sounds like either the battery has a bad cell, or your alternator needs replacing or both need replacing. a bad battery will kill an alternator, and a bad alternator will kill a battery.
