Maintenance & Repairs - July 2006

I have a 98 Ford contour. I have paid 600 dollars getting it "fixed". The other day it died in a busy intersection; when i tryed to start it in park it would tick tick tick, speedometer needle would go crazy and the oil, check engine light would come on. Someone gave me a jump start and it ran but kept dying. I had the battery replaced it runs a little better but it's been running rough at stoplights and then dies-oil battery check engine comes on. but it starts back up. I was thinking maybe the fuel pump or filter...or that it was the alternator.Should i put fuel injector fluid in my car? I'm a little frustrated with all this! Help would be appreciated! Thank you.

i checked petrol i got half a tank ,battery perfect alternator a1 dont know wat it is i was driving and car just stopped please help me any ideas car didnt over heat or anything like that dont know what to do.

The brake pads on the front driver side is already worn after 6 months, but the front passenger side brake pads are still in great shape, what is wrong with this man, now I have to replace both of them again, tell me whats wrong so I dont have to keep replacing my brake pads............

I find viberation in my car engine when it goes on a low speed or stops. This happens specialy when AC is on.
I noticed also that the volume of Radio goes up when I go on a high speed. is this an electrical or mechanical faliure?

I just bought a new alternator in april of this yr. I had someone install it for me and the damn pulley came off on me while I was driving today. The whole pulley and belt made this wild horrific screeching sound and now my check battery light is on.
How do I fix this and is the shop that sold me the alternator responsible for this mishap?
They sold me a bum alternator 1 yr ago and I complained to the owner because the alternator lost it's power in 12 months. They are supposed to last much longer than 12 months in a car. I told him there was no reason for it to die out on me because I don't have loud music or any music playing in my car. I have no amp or any stereo stuff either. I don't have anything that would drain it and I have a brand new yellow top Optima battery that has 620CCA so it packs enough punch. The alternator he sold me was a bum one and he replaced it for me for 1/2 price.
Now this new one I got from him sucks big time with the pulley falling off in 4 months!!
WTF??

I just had my brake fluid replaced about a month ago but my car still doesnt feel like it is braking right. When I brake, I have to apply a lot of pressure to the brakes in order for it to stop. It doesn't make any weird sounds, no smells. It just feels kinda loose on the pedals.

I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse, 3.0 L engine. The manual says change the timing belt at 60K, except in California where it is optional. The manual indicates you can go to 100K in California. I can't find anyone who can explain this. Is it really safe to let it go to 100K? (I live in Calif).

I need to remove the hub at home and take it to the shop. As there is no tow companies willing to come this far out. the local garage does not bring in vehicles and I'm sure it will destroy most of the wheel components if I even try to drive it. the car only has 100 000 km on it and body is great I don't want to give up on it. I have a short socket set but need to know the size to go buy the right one.

well im almost sure its unlocking ,it only does it on the free way and not all the time. Seems like it just does it occasionally when i dont want it to. Rarly does it happen in town at low speeds. The fluid is full and the tranny was rebuilt about a year ago. It also shifts hard into first under throttle the other gears shift smooth. Also it seems to lack power,almost like something is holding it back. Not slipping but as if it were in second when i take off.A friend of mine has a dodge truck that does the same thing at about 65 mph, and he said it does it most of the time but once in a while it dosent. I am tottally lost. I been working on cars for a few years and have encountered most problems and done alot of above average/shade tree work but have never seen a vehicle do this...

what it does to a tee,ill get on the gas and it will like kick into a passing gear like and go back and forth till i let off the gas,kinda like a slip but not a slip,like it cant make up its mind
