Crykey mate, that's a tough one.
I'll bet when you replaced the petrol pump, you pretty much farkled up the sending unit.
Check the wiring wasn't broken or disconnected when you dropped the tank to replace the pump. that's why the Gas hand is on the blink.
That's what it is I reckon.

your gas guage is probably not working because either of two reasons:
1. Your gas guage itself has a bad spring controlling the needle, so you may have to buy a new gas guage or worse, a whole new instrument cluster (speedometer, tachometer, odometer, idiot lights, etc.)
2. The gas float in you gas tank (which is connected to the gas guage to tell you how much gas is in the tank) might be stuck or broken. The gas float is kind of like the floating rubber bulb in your toilet tank.
But don't worry if your gas guage is bad, just remember to fill up the car with gas once a week and you'll be fine.

I guessing you mean your car when you say hondapassport. I am also guessing that the"gas hand" is the fueling dispenser.
Gas nozzles are equipped with an automatic shut off valve. When you are filling your tank and the automatic shut off activates, it means your tank is full.
