On a 1972 jeep wagoneer, am i supposed to have constant power to the voltage regulator?

Yes, you will have power to the voltage regulator as long as the battery is in the vehicle.

I'll check for the schematic.

I checked and couldn't find one on-line.
I am referring to my 1968 Dodge R/T service manual I don't have a 72 dodge book.
