I have a 1992 Toyota corolla with a bad engine 4A-FE, the mechanic said he had a fully rebuilt engine on the shelf, better than rebuilding mine, I took the deal, when I got the car back, oil light keeps coming on at idle speed , car always running hot, when I open the oil cap on the head cover with engine running lots of air pressure comes out, I doubt that he only did a head job only on my old engine. How can I find out the block number on my old engine to compare it to the number on block on the car now? is there a data base or something where by the VIN # I can find out ?

2001 merc villager, a/c was blowing warm air. i took it to a local repair shop that advertised "a/c service." the guy felt the warm air & said i needed freon. he added freon but the air remained warm. he would gun the engine while adding freon, & then we saw smoke coming from the engine, specifically from the a/c compressor. that smoke was not there before. he said i needed new compressor & so i had him replace mine for $495. when done, i drove home with cool air for about 15 min & then the air turned warm. i immediately took it back, told of the problem, & another guy added more freon. air temp was 60 deg out of vents. drove it home w/cold air, then 15 min later, i saw light smoke shooting from the vents, more so when i accelerated. i gun the engine & saw white smoke from my exhaust as well. that stopped, but then the a/c went back to warm air. i didnt see the mechanic do the work, so i cant say if he checked for leaks before doing any work. any explanation for all that happened?

I broke off three studs removing the lug nuts. Now I can get the broken ones out just by knocking them out with a hammer. I can also get the new ones in but cannot get them to seat all the way. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

My 94 Ford Probe GT when running has a clanging sound coming from the engine. It's like a loud ticking that goes with the sound and rate of the engine. It started recently and I was told from an auto shop that im sure wants to screw me over it was my fuel injectors. So the basic question is, Could a LOUD click click click click sound that goes with the sound of the engine be the injectors?

I have a 98 Jetta (gasoline engine). When the outside temp gets hotter than 85, I have to keep turning the ignition repeatedly in order for it to start. All it does is click, sometimes it may try to turn over, but generally a click or nothing at all happens when I turn the key. Eventually, after 10 to 15 tries it will start up and run just fine. All of the electrical components come on during this, but it's going to be a long summer if I don't get this fixed. Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be causing this?

I have a 91 dodge colt, that when i start it water comes out of the tail pip,it still comes out when the car is just seating there. people have told me it might be the head gasket it gone bad, but they say nothing about water coming out if the head gasket has gone bad. Plus the car smokes, the smoke is clear and smells like gas. What could this be from, are there anyother parts that might have gone bad making this happen. The fuel needle is stuck, could this be something to do with the fuel system gone bad thats making this car smoke and shoot water out of the tail pip..

Hello Folks,
I'm looking for recommendations for a good mechanic to do an complete overhaul on my 93 v8 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
I would do it myself but just don't have the time. I find that I have difficulty in trusting folks working on my cars. But I would really like to find one I can trust.
Thanks ...
