we have a 1990 plymouth voyager, the trans went out a few months back. she does have high miles, but the girl we bought it off of has all the receipts for all that has been done to it, we can't afford to trade it in, too many $$ medical bills!!! at first we have tried to find a new one, well, the price is too high on them, so how or what do we look for in a used one?? would any other year trans fit as long as it has overdrive, ( i was told it has to have overdrive, or the computer won't work in the van if it is the wrong one) any info would be greatly appreciated since i am no mechanic!!

I was told that you should always use the parking brake whether you are on an incline or not, because it is better for your car to rest on the brake, as oppossed to resting on the transmission. Any opinions? Will this effect the performance of my transmission?

I have a manual 2002 Isuzu Rodeo. When driving on the highway/freeway, the shifter heats up to about 140+ degrees. If I turn on the air conditioning, it cools it down to a normal temperature (70's). This doesn't seem normal. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

The air still works, but on really hot days it doesn't cool as well. I was quoted 300 something by one shop sight unseen. Seemed high to me. I also saw that I can buy a kit to do it for around $39. Is it hard to recharge? I have never done that. Thanks.

I bartered with a friend of my husband's a boat for the repair of a truck. I asked him to wait until after my husband's funeral to come and pick up the boat, I let him keep my Pontiac Grand am as caladeral, he picked the boat, and said he could not get the car back from a mechanic he outsourced it to. I thought he had a shop of his own, that was not the case, he says he did not authorize repairs, the mechanics says he did ,over the phone...the bottom line is I can't get my car back and now the guy is trying to put a lean on my car...HELP

My car is junk, seriously. Lately I have been having problems with getting it to start. I have gas, the oil gage is fine, the only thing I see is the temp gage is always on cold. Plus, I had to take out the fuse for my interior lights because they wouldn't turn off, AND there's a leak in my rag top by my back window so whenever it rains (like tonight) water leaks in behind the back seat.
Any help would be appreciated.... and please no comments about getting a new car, I'm workin on it!

If I open the oil cap on the head cover while engine is running in a newly rebuilt engine, should there be lots of air coming out (with the oil splashing of course), I heard that little air should come out, mine blows lots of air, should I be worried? how much air sould be coming out? also, oil pressure Gauge showed 20 Psi for a toyota corolla 1992, 4A-FE , 1.6L rebuilt engine, how much should it be?

I always assumed tht a freez plug was found exclusively on Diesel Engines. Now someone is telling me that their freez plug on their car is broken. the thing is though that their car is a gasoline powered vehicle. Is this true what they are telling me?
