Do the required maintenance at the proper intervals, keep it clean inside and out, drive it like you made a major investment and mistreating it can kill or seriously injure people.

Keepup with the regular oil changes is the best way to keep your vechicle running in good shape. I would also suggest getting tires rotated every 10-15k miles.

*Take it in for oil, lube filter at the manufacturer's suggested intervals
*Have a systems flush (coolant, brakes and oil [if necessary]) every 30,000 miles or two years
*Take it in for all its scheduled maintenance, at the maintenance dates--never three months later!
*Wash and detail it once a week, and wax it at least once a month--and get body damage repaired as soon as possible (yes, paint maintenance is very important!)

My brakes instructor has a Nissan with over 250,000 miles on all-original equipment (with the exception of filters and belts)--all because he maintained it correctly.

First of all, you need to buy a nice car. Then keep it garaged and watch out for the baskets at Costco.

If you live in a area that gets snow you have to wash the salt off you paint. Salt acts as a catalyst for rust..... It will ruin your paint.
