both of my electronic keys have stopped working and i've had to replace the chip/battery in them. unfortunately the switch that holds/operates the chip needs to be resoldered. who on earth would do that kind of work? i'm in edinburgh, help please!!

If its just a simple keyless entry remote. Any elctronic repair shop could solder it. Only time you need a new key is if the car is "married" to the old set usually an ignition kill switch so to speak. wich is still just an ecu flash to fix the problem.

who told you you need a new chip? just go to the dealer with your car and they will order you new ones. Ford say you have to buy a minimum of 3 at something like £36 each!.............resoldering an original key sounds like someones got a nicked car and is trying to avoid a dealer!

There is a transponder chip in it that comes out...reluctantly. It's just as easy to go to the dealership and order a new key. In most cases, you will need to present proof of ownership and pay them around 25 bucks.

some chips are reprogrammable, maximum are no longer. some chips can get replaced. by making use of the time you order a key from ebay, get it cut back, replace the chip and get it programmed, you have got gotten a locksmith to cut back and software a key and saved money.

i woud suggest asking the manufacturor of the car you drive for a new key. talk to a dealship

TAKE IT TO THE DEALER IF IT IS FORD SO TAKE IT TO FORD DEALER GOOD LUCK I TOOK MY TOYOTA AVENSIS IT COAST ME £50 AND IT IS WORKING
