Sorry for being such a noob, but im trying to figure out a configuration for my car. I want to run 4 120 watt speakers and a sub. Does this mean I need 1 4 channel amp and a 1 channel amp for the sub or is there an easier way. Please send your best configurations.

Hi all, I recently purchased a portable DVD player, the unit is powered by the cars cigarette lighter and when the engine is running I can hear engine noise. I believe it is engine noise because the pitch changes as the revs increase. Wondering how do I remove this noise? Is there anything I can do at the cigarette light power source? If the unit is directly connected to the battery I can still hear the noise but not as bad. Thanks for your time!!!! PS the vehicle is a current VE Commodore Omega.

i know the standard for sub enclosures are 3/4' MDF with 3/8" plexi... but i was wondering if i could get away with putting 1/4" plexi instead to save some money. does it make that big of difference between the two sizes?

hi there i need to remove my existing car stereo at night due to fear of it getting nicked. i was wondering if it's possible to get a cage that slides into place and can be removed when needed.obviously it would need cennection points at the back for the power and speaker connections too.

I have a pioneer premier head unit with 2 kicker comp 10's and a 500 watt alphasonic amp. I have had this system for over 6 months and has work fine until the other day my subs started making this rumbling sound. its not loud. If i play my music it drowns it out. The only time when you can really hear it is between tracks and when i turn the volume down all the way. And also there is this light static sound coming from my tweeters too that just started at the same time. What could cause this?? How can i fix it??

I am going to hide a nice cd and changer in a console in the used Jeep I just bought. It has a factory installed am/fm tape deck. A friend said that if I was going to go through the trouble of hiding the cd player I should find a factory am/fm radio to put in the dash. But I really don't think that anyone would steal a 13 year old am/fm factory tape deck would they? I mean who uses tapes anymore? People mostly steal radios to sell to pawn shops or friends... and I don't think that anyone is going to pay much for a crappy old radio vs. the possible trouble of trying to steal it. I know that someone somewhere will steal anything, but I just don't think that the chances are very high that someone will risk stealing a junky old radio. Any radio thieves here? Would you steal a crappy old tape deck?

I have an 88 Cadillac Brougham with two 4X6 speakers in the dash, and two 6X9 speakers in the back. I am wondering if to improve sound quality it is as simple as swapping out the factory speakers for something better, or if the wiring must be completely redone, radio replaced etc in order for the new speakers to perform well. I am trying to preserve the factory radio, but I plan on placing a CD player in the trunk. So my question essentially is where can I find a how to guide on how to do all of this? I tried install doctor's website, but it was of no use to the Brougham line.

Have a 1993 Chrysler Town & Country (just purchased car for work & school). It's old but runs great & couldn't beat the price. Only issue: radio doesn't work - when I try to turn it on, absolutely no sound, only thing I can hear is the clicking sound from one of the back speakers when I turn off the switch. Taking to a mechanic next week for tune-up, can this be fixed??

i know theres ways to calculate the current draw of an amplifier...
but is there any way to literaly measure the live current draw of a sound system....

example:::
i can take the wattage of an amp, and multiply it by e=mc2(squared) to the root of the radius of the world..and it will equal 200 amps.

but even though the math will add up to something, i doubt it really is that in the car...
because there are things that could lower the actual power of the amp....
like not having correct gauge wire, not upgrading alternator, battery wires, battery, etc.....

so i wanted to know if there is an actual way i can measure the current draw, like if can use a multimeter????
i dont want to fry my multimeter though so i wanna know if it can be done first....

ok so im running a single 2 ohm dvc Alpine Type R to a single TMA(JL Audio) T360.2 2 Channel Amp 110 watts x 2 at 4 ohms, 180 x 2 at 2 ohms or 360 watts x 1 at 4 ohms bridged ....i was running it to a Class D Alpine MRD-M1005 700 watts x 1 at 4 ohms 1000 watts x 1 at 2 ohms however i stopped becuause i smelt the voice coils and figured the amp was overpowering the sub....now when i wire the 2 ohm sub to a four ohm load and bridge it to the amplifier (TMA) the amp eventually gets very hot like within 15 minutes and will eventually shut off also the sub gets hot so i unbridge it and get better heat results but i lose power...everything is wired correctly im pretty sure and my power and ground cables are 4 awg and tight...the sub is in a large box sealed with plexi glass and is vented only at the bottom.......if i were to get another type r could i then run them safely to the 1000 watt amp and if so would i see a significant gain in power from two subs than one?would a 360 watt amp push 2
