yes more than likely you will kill that sub because you would be exceeding the thermal limit(RMS) by 50%!!even at moderate volume levels the voice coils will overheat and suffer damage....add an identical MTX 5500 or another of equal value and youve got yourself a perfect setup

Just turn down the gain on the amp. Or add a second sub.

it could...but theres a knob to turn down the power on your amp so if you lower it you would be fine.....plus you cna lower the bass levels thru your reciever which will also lower the chances of blowing it...

It is possible, why not buy another sub and wire it in series? Then you are good to go.

u can set it so it will run real low so it wont blow it but its just kinda dumb cause ur gonna want it to be loud
