I think we may see an even further convergence of car, home audio and the computer. USB ports on the new decks is one indication of this. If you have seen the advertisments for the new i phone, its screen is impresive, i ask you why not make something like the iphone that "snaps" into the dash, connecting it to a amp subs and such. even control it from the steering wheel, in case you get that important call...

So what do you all think? what are trends you expect to see?

I have a Wrangler and I was wondering if it would be better to have two 10" woofs or just one 12". The box I'm looking at fits in the seat and can be cut for either.

Hey everyone....I have a modest stereo set-up in my car and I am suddenly having problems with a fuse blowing. I have an Alpine head unit, Kenwood amp, and a single 10" Alpine sub. I have had this set up in this car for about a year and a half, and had the same set up in another car for three years before that and never had any problems. Now for the past week, the fuse in the wire running from my battery to my amp keeps blowing. When I replace it, it is good for about 30 seconds, and then it blows. Any advice on where to start troubleshooting?

I have an Audiobahn amp in my 96 Corolla and recently my battery died. I wasn't sure what was going on and someone told me that my alternator was nearly dead. What I want to know is how can I protect my alternator from dying. Some people have said a capacitor will fix it. Others say it will do no good and i have to beef up my alternator. Has anyone had this situation and came out of it with positive results. If so, what did you do?

I just got a 1992 325i and figured installing my cd player would be no different than the past 5 cars I've had... I was wrong.. I cut the wires and got the negative and positive wires spliced (so it turns on now when you start the car) but I can't seem to figure out how the speakers hook up, since I've tried just about every combination of colored wires together. The speakers on this car are definitely wired differently and possibly to a factory amplifier somewhere. I would appreciate it if someone could send me a link to a wiring diagram for this radio or something cause my last resort is re-wiring the speakers :-( and I wanna avoid that at all costs!
Thank you!!!!!

I have two Lanzar OptiDrive 1535s. I was running only one sub off of an entry level Lanzar amp and all of a sudden the sub started making a strange noise and not hitting as hard. It still hits, it just sounds like crap. I hooked up the other one, and about a week later same thing. These are competition subs, and I wasn't really pushing them, so I was kind of surprised. When I took the sub out of the box and moved the cone, I could see that while the fabric surrround that attaches to the cone wasn't ripped, it was separated from the cone where it was glued before. My question is this... Is this a symptom of something else such as a bad motor or blown voice coil, or can I just reattach it and use it?

First off, I do not want to buy a standalone amplifier... I just want to use a head unit and speakers... so I need to know if the speakers will still sound good if the company recommends a higher RMS wattage than the head unit puts out... the head units I am looking at are all around 20-22 RMS watts...

I'm looking at getting a Pioneer DEH-1900MP head unit and one of the following setups for speakers:

Eclipse SE8235 in the dash
Eclipse SP5000 in the front doors
Eclipse SP6900 in the rear deck

OR...

Infinity Kappa 32.7cf in the dash
Infinity Kappa 52.7i in the front doors
Infinity Kappa 692.7i in the rear deck

OR...

Kicker KS35 in the dash
Kicker KS525 in the front doors
Kicker KS69 in the rear deck

also.......... how are Pioneer speakers?

thanks for taking the time to read this guys and girls

I have a JL Audio 250/1 Monoblock. My subs are JL W0's. Now, could I blow them? I've always been told to tuen it up, untill it starts soundlike like distortion, then its time to tuen it down. But i can never really tell. Ive also been told that you can see how much the cone is moving. if its moving to much, then you want to turn it down, but its hard to see the cone when it faces the abck of my truck.

any thought?
