i have a 97 pontiac sunfire and i need to take my door panels off it so i can put my new 4x6's in its manual windows and locks if that will help in you're answer thank you

Loosen the arm rest from it first take off handles as need. loose with screwdriver from bottom first work your way up side then top last!remove any screwes along way, with a philips i think...

Find all the screws that hold it including the hidden ones around the door handle. Then you have to start levering off the door gradually around the nylon plugs that hold it to the sheet metal. Unscrew the manual door lock plastic knob at the left top of the door panel. The door panel will have to be pushed upward to get it off the remaining threaded door lock shaft you took the knob off.

They make a special panel retainer remover available at parts store like auto-zone or napa. Real easy to use but without it you're liable to break either the retainers or the plastic panel itself.
